Each Monday morning, several of the ladies of Word of Life gather together to pray. Join your sisters in Christ as we lift our prayers and praises up to the God of heaven. We meet every Monday at 9:00 AM in the prayer room.
Most weeks, a small, but friendly group of people meets up, after the morning service, in the lobby of MidMichigan Medical Center of Alpena. They gather some hymnals and sing some hymns and/or choruses at the ends of the hallways on multiple floors. A few of the patients/families may make requests or even join in as we sing two or three hymns in each spot. It may remind you of Christmas caroling, but with regular hymns. Expect to spend around an hour at the hospital, depending on how much visiting (with the team and/or patients) you happen to do.
Does that sound like something you would like to do or try? Contact the church office for more information.
We offer Life Lessons classes for 1st through 5th grade children at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings. Within these classes, we aim to incorporate Bible stories into your child's life in fun and creative ways. Our goal is to come along side of you, the parent, to help your child see God's Word and truths as being relevant in their daily lives. Classes are located in Kidville / The Heritage Center.
Each January, we encourage the entire Word of Life family to embark on a time of Prayer and Fasting.
Each year has a theme that builds off the prayer, "“O Lord, give us ONE DESIRE: Make our hearts beat as one with yours..."
For 2026, the theme is "Expand Our Desire" and our key verse is Psalm 73:25 - "Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth I desire besides you.”"

The Women’s Missionary Fellowship supports the compassionate work of God through His missionaries here and around the world. We pray for our missionaries, participate in community outreach, and take part in a card ministry. We also sew items such as baby blankets and diapers for missionaries and wrap band-aids for the White Cross.
We meet the second Monday of the month in the Fellowship Hall.
We offer children entering 1st (or kindergarteners that are ready*) through 5th grade a unique opportunity to worship and learn during our 10:45 AM service on Sunday mornings. After joining their parents in the sanctuary, families have the choice to dismiss their children from service to KW2, an interactive teaching time geared for younger hearts and minds. Parents can pick their children up from KW2 in the Heritage Center Gymnasium following the worship service.
* We offer two options for kindergarteners, depending on what they are ready for. They can either stay in Kidville with younger children or participate in KW2, which is more advanced in content and expectations.
