Sunday Service Time 10:45AM

Axis Student Ministries

Axis Student Ministries (6 th – 12 th grades) meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 8:10 PM during the school year.  The Summer Schedule is more event based, and can be found here:  2026 Axis Summer Schedule.

A typical night involves food, fellowship, musical worship, and biblical teaching. Middle and High Schoolers join together food, worship, and "circle time, but separate for teaching, small group discussions, and games.

Axis students are also invited to participate in several big events throughout the year, like bike and rafting adventures, mission trips, service opportunities, and both winter and summer retreats.

Axis is based on 1 Peter 2:9 which says that God has turned us from darkness into His light. As a generation, we give Him our praise.

We challenge students to let their one life make a difference.

You can find Axis on Facebook and on Instagram

Hospital Singing Ministry

Most weeks, a small, but friendly group of people meets up, after the morning service, in the lobby of MidMichigan Medical Center of Alpena. They gather some hymnals and sing some hymns and/or choruses at the ends of the hallways on multiple floors. A few of the patients/families may make requests or even join in as we sing two or three hymns in each spot. It may remind you of Christmas caroling, but with regular hymns. Expect to spend around an hour at the hospital, depending on how much visiting (with the team and/or patients) you happen to do.

Does that sound like something you would like to do or try? Contact the church office for more information.

Kidville (Nursery - Kindergarten)

We have special opportunities for our youngest family members to learn and grow both at the 9:00 AM hour and the 10:45 AM service time.  Our infant and toddler nursery is open to children under 2 years of age.  We also offer age appropriate classes for children age 2 to Kindergarten that lay a foundation of faith through caring teachers, a Biblical focus, and crafts that help the kids take home what they learn.

WOL Disc Golf Course

What started as a pop-up course for a church event is now open to the public as an outreach of Word of Life Baptist Church to our community.

The course is closed on Sunday mornings and/or when funerals are taking place.

Parking in the lower lot is preferred - the 1st tee is up the stairs by the front entrance / mailbox.

Course maps are available near the first tee pad or available here:

Loaner disc sets are available just inside the first set of doors at the main entrance to the church, inside a yellow box.

Some Course Notes:

- We have a mixture of tee pads marked with orange or yellow stakes as the front of the "tee pad." Some are existing concrete or asphalt, others are outdoor carpet-covered rubber mats.

- We have garbage bins available by the bend on #2, after # 4(13), 7 (16) and # 9 (18) on the course, so please help us care for the church property.

Mando's (we hope to add signs eventually): Hole 3 - right of the 1st tree Hole 9 - left of the group of 4 trees. If you miss the mando, take your penalty stroke and go the the marked drop zone to the left of the two other birch trees (it should make sense when you're there).

Recommended "Hazard": All asphalt (Hazard penalty stroke, but play from where the disc lies). When leagues play, this rule is followed.

Have fun out there!

Life Lessons (1st - 5th Sunday School)

We offer Life Lessons classes for 1st through 5th grade children at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings.  Within these classes, we aim to incorporate Bible stories into your child's life in fun and creative ways.  Our goal is to come along side of you, the parent, to help your child see God's Word and truths as being relevant in their daily lives.  Classes are located in Kidville / The Heritage Center.

Every Man A Warrior

Once again, we are challenging men to grow deeper in the knowledge and grace of our Lord by joining the Every Man a Warrior discipleship journey.  This course speaks to every part of a man’s life including his relationship with God, marriage, raising a family, work, money and getting through hard times.  Click the link below to view the introductory video.

2020 EMAW Introduction

This opportunity comes once a year and new groups start each Fall.  Workbooks, available at the start of the course and are required.  By design, this is a small group fellowship, so be sure to join early as the class is closed to newcomers after the first few weeks.
